What We Do
| We
are a faith-based, non-profit ministry in McKinney, TX. Our goal is to
reach out to those in prison and their families and help not only while
they are incarcerated but once they come out assist in whatever way we
can with their transition back to society. |
|
|
Our
main scope is to lead women offenders (prisoners) to Christ and guide
them through t
heir spiritual growing in order to help them return to the
community. We believe transition services start while they are still
incarcerated by educating them and given them the tools to face up to
their responsibilities as good, abiding citizens, as mothers and within
their families. By planting strong Christian principles, we hope to
help them avoid getting back to the bad habits and/or conduct that
brought them to prison in the first place.
We will do this through:
Teaching, Mentoring, counseling and providing shelter for those who
come out of prison with no place to go. We also give a basket of toiletries and clothes for women going to halfway houses or shelters.
BELOW ARE SOME OF THE COMMENTS WE'VE RECEIVED FROM WOMEN TAKING THE COURSES WE OFFER:
"...I'm
learning more and more of how much God does love me and care for me. I
see how the way I raised my kids have affected them but that we don't
have to just accept this is the way things are. There is something we can
do to change through Jesus Christ. I've hurt them as I was hurt but I
praise the Lord that now I have a chance to take this class before we
keep passing anger and hurt down from generation to generation." C. Fuentes
"Through
the spiritual healing class I've been opened up to a different side of
my life that I didn't think it would be revealed. After taking your
classes, God has used you to help me spiritually in understanding where I
had to be healed emotionally, mentally, and physically. I'm using the
spiritual tools in my life now! Growing and sharing, people noticing the
change in me. They ask me where did I get such good spirit's. I let
them know about your class, the lessons, the love and commitment that my
teacher has plus they see the joy in me. Makes them want to join and
come to me for spiritual advice. I had prayed for a long time, for GOD
to bring people like you in my life, to help me grow and get stronger so
I can carry on the purpose of God in my life." B.G.
"The
feelings that have been brought out in myself are inexplicable by me.
This class has made me someone that has finally begun to grow. I feel
that with each class, it is a part of me being able to grow." C. Reid
"The
Boundaries class taught me how to say "no" instead of rescuing a person
from the natural consequences of his behavior. I thought that saying
"yes" to everyone who was in need was what Jesus wanted me to do. Now, I
know not to be an enabler. I have learned how to set boundaries in my
own life and why society also has boundaries. I
thought that the
punishment of coming to Dawson State Jail would be the end of my life.
But it actually saved my life by having these lessons and having you as
my teacher." C.D.
"I
love the class you teach. The biggest lesson
I have learned is
Rejection. This is something I have had to deal with all of my life.
Today I know that God has directed me to this class because I haven't
have an intimate relationship with God for 6 yrs and now I know this is
where HE wants me to be. Thank you!" J. Fox
